This religious place of Birbhum district of West Bengal, India is recognized for its specialties. According to experts, Tarapith is a tantric temple. The Tantra Vidya here is very famous.

If we look at the literal meaning of Tarapith, Tara refers to Goddess Tara while Peeth refers to the seat of the Goddess. This religious tourism of West Bengal is very famous in India. The architecture of Tarapith temple, which is recognized as Shaktipeeth, is also very visible. It is believed that the eye of Goddess Sati had fallen at this place, hence it came to be known and recognized as Tarapith. Aankh literally means star in Bengali.

        तारापीठ मंदिर वस्तुत: देवी तारा को समर्पित है। मान्यता है कि तारापीठ देवी सती का स्थल है। तारापीठ का शाब्दिक अर्थ देखें तो तारा से आशय देवी तारा से है जबकि पीठ से आशय देवी के बैठने के स्थान से है। पश्चिम बंगाल का यह धार्मिक पर्यटन भारत में बेहद प्रसिद्ध है।शक्तिपीठ के रूप में पहचान रखने वाले तारापीठ मंदिर का वास्तुशिल्प भी अति दर्शनीय है। मान्यता है कि इस स्थान पर देवी सती की आंख गिरी थी लिहाजा इसे तारापीठ के नाम से जाना  जाता है। बंगाली में आंख का शाब्दिक अर्थ तारा होता है।

        In ancient times this place was known and known as Chandipur. Which was later changed to Tarapith. Goddess Sati is said to be another form of Adishakti. In Tarapith temple, innumerable forms of Goddess are seen.

        प्राचीनकाल में इस स्थान को चंडीपुर के नाम से जाना जाता था। जिसे बाद में बदल कर तारापीठ कर दिया गया था। देवी सती को आदिशक्ति का दूसरा स्वरूप कहा जाता है। तारापीठ मंदिर में देवी के असंख्य स्वरूप के दर्शन होते हैं।

           The main darshan is of Mata Tara Devi. The main idol has three eyes of Mata Tara Devi. Mata Tara Devi is bathed with water, vermilion and alcohol. This bathing water is distributed to the devotees and devotees in the form of prasad. Tarapith Temple is a medium sized-type temple. Its architecture is very visible and rare. Structured in marble, this temple is especially known and recognized for its specialties. All the entrances of the temple are decorated with carvings.        मुख्य दर्शन माता तारा देवी के होते हैं। मुख्य प्रतिमा में माता तारा देवी की तीन आंखें हैं। माता तारा देवी को जल, सिंदूर एवं शराब से स्नान कराया जाता है। स्नान का यही जल भक्तों-श्रद्धालुओं को प्रसाद के रूप में वितरित किया जाता है। तारापीठ मंदिर एक मध्यम आकार-प्रकार का मंदिर है। इसका वास्तुशिल्प अति दर्शनीय एवं दुर्लभ है। संगमरमर से संरचित यह मंदिर अपनी विशिष्टताओं के लिए खास तौर से जाना एवं पहचाना जाता है। मंदिर के सभी प्रवेश द्वार नक्काशी से सुसज्जित हैं। लिहाजा प्रवेश द्वार बेहद दर्शनीय प्रतीत होते हैं।

        The entrance has been carved out of various metals. Due to which the visibility r also increases. The sloping roof of the temple is also distinctive. It is called Dhochla in the local language. Along with Taradevi, other goddesses including Durga ji and Kali ji are also seated in the temple. Lord Shiva is also seated in the temple. It is believed that the wishes of the devotees are fulfilled by the mere darshan of Goddess Tara. Therefore, for the darshan of Goddess Tara, the crowd of devotees keeps on gathering continuously.

         प्रवेश द्वार पर विभिन्न धातुओं से नक्काशी की गयी है। जिससे दर्शनीयता आर भी अधिक बढ़ जाती है। मंदिर की ढलानदार छत भी विशिष्ट है। इसे स्थानीय भाषा में ढ़ोचला कहा जाता है। मंदिर में तारादेवी के साथ ही दुर्गा जी एवं काली जी सहित अन्य देवियां भी विराजमान हैं। भगवान शिव भी मंदिर में विराजमान हैं। मान्यता है कि देवी तारा के दर्शन मात्र से श्रद्धालुओं की इच्छाओं की पूर्ति होती है। लिहाजा देवी तारा के दर्शन के लिए श्रद्धालुओं की भीड़ निरन्तर उमड़ती रहती है।

        तांत्रिक श्मशान: तांत्रिक श्मशान एक मैदान है। इस स्थान को तांत्रिक विद्या के लिए जाना जाता है। महसमंशा के नाम से विख्यात यह श्मशान भूमि विशिष्ट मानी जाती है। मान्यता है कि श्मशान में देवी तारा के दर्शन होते हैं। विश्वास है कि इस स्थान पर देवी तारा के दर्शन करने से इच्छाओं की पूर्ति होती है। इस इलाके में खास तौर से साधु-संतों का डेरा रहता है। संत बामखेपा: संत बामखेपा वस्तुतः तारापीठ का एक मंदिर है। बामखेपा वस्तुत: एक सिद्ध संत थे। इनको तारापीठ का एक पागल संत भी कहा जाता है।

     The Pink Temple here is dedicated to Saint Bamkhepa. The pink temple is situated as soon as you enter the village. A red colored tomb is found at the entrance of the temple. There is also a dome on this tomb. Devotees visit here and wish for the fulfillment of their wishes. All necessary resources are available to visit Tarapith temple.
