Mussoorie is a small town situated in the lap of nature of Uttarakhand which is also known as 'Queen of Hills'. Mussoorie is famous for beauty, education, tourism and commercial activities. Mussoorie is located 32 km away from Dehradun in the northwestern state of Uttaranchal in northern India. Mussoorie is situated at an altitude of 2,112 meters in the midst of a picturesque mountainous region in the foothills of the Himalayas.

मसूरी उत्तरी भारत के पश्चिमोत्तर उत्तरांचल राज्य में स्थित देहरादून से 32 किमी दूर पर स्थित है। मसूरी 2,112 मीटर की ऊँचाई पर हिमालय की तराई में एक मनोरम पर्वतीय क्षेत्र के बीच में स्थित है।

HISTORY / इतिहास

Mussoorie was discovered by Captain Young in 1827. It is said that Captain Young of the British Army, impressed by the beauty of Mussoorie, decided to settle here. Mussoorie was named after the lentil plant found in abundance here.

मसूरी की खोज कैप्टन यंग ने 1827 में की थी। कहा जाता हैं कि ब्रिटिश आर्मी के कैप्टन यंग ने मसूरी की सुन्दरता से प्रभावित होकर यहीं बसने का निर्णय किया था। मसूरी का नामकरण यहाँ पर बहुतायत में पाए जाने वाले मसूर के पौधे के कारण हुआ था।

The nearest airport to Mussoorie is at Dehradun. Mussoorie can be reached by local bus, taxi from Dehradun. The nearest railway station from Mussoorie is at Dehradun at a distance of 33 kms. Mussoorie is connected by road to many major cities of India. Uttar Pradesh State Transport, DTC, Semi Luxury, Luxury Buses are available till Mussoorie.

Mussoorie has a Botanical Garden and summer offices of several Indian government offices. India's first brewery was established here in 1850. Educational Institution Mussoorie's climate and its surroundings make it a suitable site for many residential schools. Mussoorie has several schools, the main ones being Vynberg Allen, Guru Nanak V Centinary, Mussoorie International, Tibetan Homes and Woodstock School. St George's School in Mussoorie was established in 1853. Guru Nanak Fifth Centenary School, Mussoorie (GNFCS) is a famous school in Mussoorie. Lal Bahadur Training Academy is established here for the training of selected candidates for the Indian Administrative Service. Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration is India's leading institute dedicated to provide training to the officers of higher civil services. Its main responsibilities are to provide entry-time training to members of All India Services and Central Services (Group 'A') through a combined foundational course; To provide in-time and post-entry vocational training and mid-career training for officers of the Indian Administrative Service; To organize other in-service training programs for the Indian Administrative Service and other services.

मसूरी में एक वानस्पतिक उद्यान और कई भारतीय सरकारी कार्यालयों के ग्रीष्मकालीन दफ़्तर हैं। यहाँ भारत की पहली मद्य निर्माणशाला 1850 में स्थापित की गई थी।शिक्षण संस्थान मसूरी की जलवायु और इसके आसपास का वातावरण इसको बहुत से आवासीय विद्यालयों के लिए उपयुक्त स्थल बनाता है। मसूरी में कई विद्यालयों है जिनमें से यह प्रमुख है:- वायनबर्ग ऐलन, गुरु नानक पंचम सेंटिनरी, मसूरी इंटरनैशनल, टिबेटन होम्स और वुडस्टॉक स्कूल हैं। मसूरी में सेंट जॉर्ज विद्यालय की स्थापना 1853 मेँ हुई थी। गुरु नानक फिफ्थ सेंटेनरी स्कूल, मसूरी (GNFCS) मसूरी का प्रसिद्ध विद्यालय है। भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा के लिये चयनित अभ्यर्थियों के प्रशिक्षण हेतु यहां पर लाल बहादुर प्रशिक्षण अकादमी स्थापित है।लाल बहादुर शास्त्री राष्ट्रीय प्रशासन अकादमी उच्चतर सिविल सेवाओं के अधिकारियों को प्रशिक्षण प्रदान करने के लिए समर्पित, भारत का अग्रणी संस्थान है। इसके मुख्य दायित्व हैंअखिल भारतीय सेवाओं तथा केंद्रीय सेवाओं (समूह 'क') के सदस्यों को एक संयुक्त आधारिक पाठ्यक्रम के जरिए प्रवेशकालीन प्रशिक्षण प्रदान करना; भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा के अधिकारियों के लिए प्रवेशकालीन तथा प्रवेशोपरांत व्यावसायिक प्रशिक्षण तथा मिड कैरिअर प्रशिक्षण प्रदान करना; भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा तथा अन्य सेवाओं के लिए अन्य सेवाकालीन प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम आयोजित करना ।

The Queen of Hills, Mussoorie city is one of the main tourist places in Dehradun. While Mussoorie has a beautiful view of the gleaming snowy ranges of the vast Himalayas, on the other hand the wonderful beauty of nature scattered in the Doon Valley provides peace to the tourists.
